“Summertime and the living is easy.”
Summer fashion is to be taken lightly. Seize the opportunity of the relaxed summer attitude to wear, express, and get away with whatever your heart desires...even if it is a little flamboyant. Summer is the time to let go. Serious-minded fashion events can always wait!
You don’t have to own a yacht to have an amazing summer day, (granted I will hop on a friends’ boat on any moments notice!), there is just as much fun to be had packing in a car with your best buds and seeing what this beautiful country has to offer. No matter where you live, nature is always around the corner. My crew of fun-loving bandits and I drove only an hour out of Atlanta to find our first stop, the most radical swimming hole you could imagine, the locals call the area “Devils Elbow.” This area has endless fun, and feels like the kind of day you would have on a vacation to Costa Rica! Day trips take some research but are well worth the adventure you won't forget. We were lucky enough to have my friend, Joseph, a doctor of natural adventures (or he at least could be a doctor in the field of spelunking, wilderness hikes, photography, history, rambl'n, and just plain fun) to show us the way. Email Joseph and he will be happy to be your guide to show you places you never dreamed about at a very reasonable rate. Many of us have gone away on vacations costing $10,000 or more, but you don’t always need to do that. Day trips are not only inexpensive, but they are also short and sweet!
Speaking of inexpensive, lets talk about summer style. I love Channel as much as any other warm-blooded female, but you do not need to spend a fortune on summer swimwear. This is one of the best times in history to look great with out breaking your wallet. I created my entire outfit the morning before we left from Wal-Mart! Can I say it again...Wal-Mart! I will have to admit to you when I was a kid I DID NOT want to shop there and it was the LEAST fashionable place to go. They did not have the kind of style and quality you can find in there these days. It astounds me. They have come out with some great stuff lately, thank you Miley Cyrus and BCBG Max Azria! Right around the corner from the 4th of July and in the middle of all the World Cup 2010 spirit...I had to go all out Americana.
Summer Camp Style 2010 is to be continued...I will be back to tell you about my twin friends' swimwear, accesories, and the second half of our adventure!"Love your country. Your country is the land where your parents sleep, where is spoken that language in which the chosen of your heart, blushing, whispered the first word of love; it is the home that God has given you that by striving to perfect yourselves therein you may prepare to ascend to him."-Guiseppe Manzzini
(this plain white T-shirt is a staple, I went back to buy more! It is by Miley Cyrus/Max Azria and is on sale right now for $5...hurry and get one before they "get gone!" The bikini is by Faded Glory and under $20)
I would like to give a special thanks to my good friend, Joseph Caylor, who is responsible for guiding us and for all the great photography on this trip.
